Where Can I Charge My Electric Car?

2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid

You’ve got the keys to an electric car in Carmel and have been enjoying your ride. But to continue enjoying its many benefits, you will need to recharge the battery and fuel your drives. You can do so in one of the nearby electric car charging stations in the Fishers area, or even at a home charging station installed in your very own garage. Find out more about the different kinds of electric car chargers and where you can find them with the service team at Penske Honda, so you can keep your electric vehicle’s battery at full capacity!

Electric Car Charger Options

Besides the public charging stations available, there are also installed charging systems and available power outlets for you to charge at home. Here are the three different charging options that you’ll have available to power up your electric vehicle’s battery before you can get moving again in Westfield:

  1. Domestic Outlet Home Charging (Regular Outlet) (Level 1 Charging): A standard grounded three-prong outlet that runs 110/120V will charge your electric vehicle’s battery in around 24 hours. This doesn’t offer the fastest method of charging, but you’ll be able to plug your car in overnight so that you have a full battery by the morning.
  2. Installed Brand-Approved Domestic Charging (Level 2 Charging): This type of charging system runs around 240V+ and is professionally installed by an electrician. This will provide a faster charging time and can charge your electric vehicle’s battery in a matter of hours. The type of charger and vehicle you have will determine how fast it takes to get to a full battery, but some Level 2 home chargers can up to 80% of a battery in about 30-40 minutes.
  3. Public Charging/DC Fast Charging (Level 2 Charging): These are the types of charging stations that are around Noblesville gas stations, malls, hotels, parking garages, and other areas. You can usually expect public electric car charging stations to charge your vehicle’s battery in about half an hour or so.

Are Electric Car Charging Stations Free?

If you choose to use a public charging station instead of your home electric car charger, then you might be able to charge your vehicle for free. Some public charging stations are free while others aren’t, so it just depends on which public charging station you use. If it costs money to charge your vehicle, then the cost will vary depending on the charging station you choose, but most charging stations charge by the kilowatt-hour. Usually, you can expect to pay around $7 to fully charge your vehicle.
